Joint replacement may be appropriate for some patients with joint damage, pain, and functional limitations. Camber’s orthopedic surgeon helps you weigh surgical and nonsurgical options according to your condition and goals.

What Is Joint Replacement?

Joint replacement surgery replaces a worn or damaged joint with an implant that restores the joint surface. Options to discuss during consultation include:

Total knee replacement — replacing the worn surfaces of the knee joint.

Hip replacement — replacing the worn surfaces of the hip joint.

Minimally invasive surgical options — techniques designed to work through smaller access than traditional approaches, where appropriate.

Whether replacement is right for you, and which approach fits, depends on your joint, your imaging, and your health — an evaluation, not a web page, decides that.

Where Joint Replacement Fits

Joint replacement is one of four areas of joint care. It may be appropriate without completing every other treatment first.

Choosing care: surgical and nonsurgical options are considered according to your joint condition, symptoms, function, prior treatment, health, and goals. Trying every nonsurgical treatment is not required.

Individual planning: your surgeon will explain the procedure, alternatives, expected recovery, and risks.

Follow-up: your care team will discuss the procedure location, recovery, and follow-up plan before surgery.

That’s the difference the continuum makes. If you’ve been told replacement is your only option, Camber can confirm whether that’s true — and if it is, you’re already with the team that will see you through it.

Why this matters

Your care team will discuss whether joint replacement is appropriate for you and explain the available alternatives.

Performed by a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

Joint replacement at Camber is performed by Bruce G. Evans, MD, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with 38+ years of experience in hip and knee replacement, minimally invasive joint replacement, and adult reconstructive surgery.

The Camber team also includes Gibran Borja, PA-C, a Bilingual Orthopedic Physician Assistant in Joint & Spine Care. Mr. Borja is fluent in English and Spanish, providing direct communication for a diverse patient population.

Is Joint Replacement Right for You?

Replacement is a significant step, and it isn’t the right answer for everyone who’s been told it is. In general, people who may consider replacement are:

Past the point where non-surgical and joint-preserving options can manage the pain

Dealing with joint wear that affects daily life and activity

Looking for a team that will confirm replacement is genuinely necessary before proceeding

We’ll review your situation and give you a straight answer — including whether a less invasive step might still be worth trying first.
